What the data says

Of the 230 pupils who finished Year 11 at Sandbach School in 2023, 51% stayed on in Sandbach School’s own sixth form (Cheshire East average 40%), 30% went to a further education college and 6% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 116 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 59% went to university (Cheshire East 27%, England 37%), and 23% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 13% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.

Design and Technology is unusually popular at GCSE: 52% of the year group took it, against 11% of pupils across England.

GCSE results in 2025 were above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 48.2 against 46.1 across England and 47.1 in Cheshire East, with 50% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
