What the data says
Of the 175 pupils who finished Year 11 at Plympton Academy in 2023, 37% stayed on in Plympton Academy’s own sixth form (Plymouth average 40%), 37% went to a further education college and 10% started an apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are a real route from here: 10% of leavers started one, roughly three times the England figure of 3%.
Among the 68 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 38% went to university (Plymouth 26%, England 37%), and 3% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 18% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.
Photography is unusually popular at GCSE: 27% of the year group took it, against 6% of pupils across England.
