What the data says

Of the 176 pupils who finished Year 11 at Altrincham College in 2023, 31% stayed on in Altrincham College’s own sixth form (Trafford average 42%), 41% went to a further education college and 2% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 70 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 43% went to university (Trafford 38%, England 37%), and 13% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.

Media Studies is unusually popular at GCSE: 32% of the year group took it, against 4% of pupils across England.

GCSE results in 2025 were above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 48.5 against 46.1 across England and 57.9 in Trafford, with 48% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
