Of the 309 pupils who finished Year 11 at Shoeburyness High School in 2023, 35% stayed on in Shoeburyness High School’s own sixth form (Southend-on-Sea average 58%), 48% went to a further education college and 3% started an apprenticeship.
Among the 126 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 42% went to university (Southend-on-Sea 32%, England 37%), and 4% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.
Sociology is unusually popular at GCSE: 29% of the year group took it, against 4% of pupils across England.
GCSE results in 2025 were well below the national picture: Attainment 8 of 37.6 against 46.1 across England and 52.2 in Southend-on-Sea, with 34% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
