Of the 133 pupils who finished Year 11 at Birkenhead High School Academy in 2023, 44% stayed on in Birkenhead High School Academy’s own sixth form (Wirral average 38%), 8% went to a further education college and 1% started an apprenticeship.
Among the 66 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 47% went to university (Wirral 39%, England 37%), and 27% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.
Sixth form colleges are the main next step: 35% of leavers went to one, roughly twice the England rate of 13%.
