What the data says

Of the 118 pupils who finished Year 11 at Mercia School in 2023, 73% stayed on in Mercia School’s own sixth form (Sheffield average 36%), 19% went to a further education college and 3% started an apprenticeship.

GCSE results in 2025 were well above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 68.1 against 46.1 across England and 43.2 in Sheffield, with 83% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).

French is unusually popular at GCSE: 98% of the year group took it, against 18% of pupils across England.

A level grades average B+, well above the England average of B-; 38% of students achieved AAB or better including two facilitating subjects (England 18%). The largest A level subjects are Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
