What the data says

Of the 269 pupils who finished Year 11 at Thurston Community College in 2023, 43% stayed on in Thurston Community College’s own sixth form (Suffolk average 39%), 43% went to a further education college and 4% started an apprenticeship.

Art and Design is unusually popular at GCSE: 26% of the year group took it, against 7% of pupils across England.

Among the 136 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 43% went to university (Suffolk 26%, England 37%), and 19% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.

GCSE results in 2025 were in line with the national picture: Attainment 8 of 46.9 against 46.1 across England and 42.8 in Suffolk, with 51% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
