What the data says

Of the 126 pupils who finished Year 11 at Torpoint Community College in 2023, 27% stayed on in Torpoint Community College’s own sixth form (Cornwall average 15%), 41% went to a further education college and 10% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 23 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 22% went to university (Cornwall 24%, England 37%), and 11% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 17% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.

Apprenticeships are a real route from here: 10% of leavers started one, roughly three times the England figure of 3%.

A level grades average D+, well below the England average of B-; 0% of students achieved AAB or better including two facilitating subjects (England 18%). The largest A level subjects are Psychology, Biology and English Language.
